Because my mind is still stuck on taxes…

this item caught my eye.  Apparently the Senate has just passed a bill with the provision that without any sort of hearing, the IRS can confiscate the passport of anyone suspected of owing $50,000 or more.

Hmmm.  Maybe Ron Paul was right about the border fence?  Knowing the direction this country is heading, do we want government bureaucrats to have the ability to contain the producers of our country who might want to leave for greener pastures?  I’m surprised California hasn’t thought of some way yet to prevent its residents from fleeing to no-tax Texas.

One can only hope that the Republican lead House of Reps, a nominally conservative group, will not pass such a bill while that language remains.  But I wouldn’t hold my breath.
