A Sex Strike for Free Condoms? Really?

A group called “Liberal Ladies Who Lunch” is calling for a sex strike protesting the Sandra Fluke/free birth control controversy.  Okaaay…

Here’s what they say on their Facebook page:

Younger men and women may not remember the “good old days” when the only reproductive choice we had was to deny men access to sex.  In truth, if we lose our hard won rights to medical care, birth control and pregnancy choice, it won’t only affect women.  Men will have to go back to the days when they waited for or paid for sex.  This issue impacts all of us. This strike is designed to make that point. IT IS NOT A PUNISHMENT OR A WEAPON TO BE USED AGAINST ANYONE! It’s a week in which you are conscious of the attack on women’s rights, nothing more.

So we don’t want men to pay for sex, we want our religious employers to pay for it?  Real feminists would pay for their own damn birth control.  They should rename their group, “Feminists Who Want to be Taken Care of by Others.”  FWWTCO.  Yeah, that works.

And I’m sorry, but the poster is just plain weird.  The whole thing is weird.  I feel compelled to comment on it because this is a blog written by conservative women, but this stupid poster actually makes me feel a twinge of fremdshamen (shame at someone else’s actions).  Ick.

About Mystic Cowgirl

I worked overseas in the aid game for longer than I'd like to admit and learned several important things: 1) Third World countries aren't poor because America is rich. They're impoverished due to socialist governments that provide neither rule of law nor basic infrastructures; 2) These socialist governments redistribute wealth from taxpayers to the government workers. There's no benefit to the poor or downtrodden, and certainly not to the general welfare in terms of infrastructure improvements. 3) America is moving toward the Third World model. Rule of law has been subverted because equality under the law is disappearing as special interests carve out exemptions to regulations and special favors under the law. The redistribution of wealth to government began decades ago -- total compensation for government employees now outpaces salaries in the private sector.
