I must be a hypocrite because I love these kinds of leaks (the kind that prove my point that environmental science has been corrupted through politization). The latest leaked Climategate e-mails are still being parsed, but Forbes has done a nice job summarizing the findings:
Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.
And yet, California plods ahead with cap and trade. California has a long and checkered history of being in the forefront of politicized science, such as eugenics. While over twenty US states passed sterilization laws during the height of the eugenics craze, California‘s was the strongest, and the state performed the most sterilizations. I’m not saying
eugenics is as bad as the global warming craze is as bad as eugenics, just that they were similarly politicized and bad laws were a result. When will we learn?
