There’s a terrific book called Ghost Wars, which starts with the attack on our Embassy in Islamabad by Pakistani rioters during the Iranian hostage crisis and ends on September 10, 2001. And it’s another story of repeating patterns: Pakistani intelligence lies to us, the US government believes it, and then we end up with egg on our face when we discover the lie.
